We did it! Thanks to all who put in their time and elbow grease; we could not have done it without you. The REACH has been an operational museum for just over a month now and we have seen over 5,700 visitors! We have had many events from The Sneak Peak, The Grand Opening Dedication, Senator Patty Murray's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Congressman Doc Hasting's Flag Raising with Twenty One Gun Salute Passing the Mantle from CRESHT, and Battelle’s Family Night to Sal Mendoza's Swearing in Reception. Congratulations Judge Mendoza! It has been a whirlwind of fun and ironing out the creases! The kids programs have been almost daily for all the summer campers; it has been a blast! We can't wait for school to start...not a super popular opinion with the kids, but....FIELD TRIPS!!! Yeah! But summer's not over yet...we still have more Friday's with the Dog Days of Summer Concert Series. Next up on Aug 15th from 5-8 is The Outsiders with concessions by RF McDougalls. Again we want to say thank you to everyone who helped in every way to open The REACH; we are eternally grateful.
Greetings To Our Community,
The Reach Foundation has been working diligently with the Richland Public Facilities District to raise funds in support of the construction, exhibits, education programs, tours, events and grand opening activities associated with the completion of the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center (REACH).
On July 1st and throughout the first week of July, residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to experience the REACH for the first time. The REACH will be a hybrid institution-part interpretive center, part museum, part visitor center and all about telling the stories of our community.
The REACH will feature our history and heritage, culture and arts, science and technology, agriculture and natural resources, and this is just the beginning of what will become a true center of community life as well as a gateway to the Columbia Basin.
We invite you to stay in town this 4th of July and be a part of a historic moment. We think you will be as amazed as we are at the depth and breadth of the facility, not to mention the potential it provides for truly reflecting not only who we are and where we’ve been, but where we are going.
Once you witness it firsthand, we ask that you support the REACH by visiting often, bringing friends and family, becoming a member and giving a gift of your time and talent, or donate to the development of a new exhibit, education program, special event or facility expansion.
Together, we will not only open a building, we will create an institution that serves our residents for decades to come. I can’t think of a better legacy for us to leave for future generations.
